Call for Abstracts

Abstract submissions for the New Zealand Association of Clinical Research 2017 Conference have now closed.


Abstracts are invited for Oral Presentations only. If you submit an abstract for consideration by the Committee and it is accepted for presentation, you must register and pay to attend the Conference. You can register online on the "registration page" on this website.

Abstracts must be submitted online via the Abstract Submission button on this website. Faxed or posted abstracts will NOT be accepted. Please submit your abstract by 4pm Monday 12 June 2017. Notice of acceptance will be sent to submission authors by Monday 12 June 2017. Abstract authors are asked to carefully study the submission instructions.

Please submit your abstract online using the prescribed template. Please ensure you read the following information before submitting an abstract.

PRESENTATION AWARDS

A "Best Oral Presentation" Award may be presented at the discretion of the Organising Committee.
Assessment will be based on content and presentation. The award will be open to all papers accepted by the Organising Committee. The judges will be appointed by the Organising Committee and the decision of the judges will be final.  The awards will be presented at the end of the conference and will be posted on the NZACRes website shortly after the conference.

WHAT TYPE OF ABSTRACT SHOULD BE SUBMITTED?

We welcome abstracts pertaining to all fields relevant to clinical research.  The abstracts may be research-focused, clinical-focused, or programme-focused.  All abstracts must include data that supports the abstract's statements and conclusions.

  - All type(s) of medical research or observational Epidemiology
  - All scientific abstracts should have scientific validity in research outcomes

PLENARY ORAL PRESENTATIONS

If you are selected to offer an oral presentation you will need to present it during the conference sessions.  The presentation is likely to be 8 minutes long with 2 minutes of Q&A.  These timings will be confirmed upon confirmation of acceptance of your abstract as an oral presentation. Standard audio visual equipment is provided: lectern, microphone, PC laptop, data projector and screen. Your presentation in the programme can be presented in PowerPoint and needs to be submitted to the conference organisers prior to the conference start. Laptop changeover at the Conference WILL NOT be permitted.

You will receive confirmation by email that the abstract has been received. If you do not receive confirmation please contact the Conference Managers (conferences@w4u.co.nz).  

ABSTRACT CONTENT

Word document ONLY. Do not use presentation software such as PowerPoint 
 - Single spacing
- Length: 300 words or less, excluding presenters and department
 - Text should be single spaced with justified margins
 - 11 pt Arial font
 - Limit the number of authors to no more than 7
 - Do not indent paragraphs
 - All abstracts must be submitted in English

Your abstract should contain the following:

Title

Authors / Presenters: Show initial and then surname only. Presenter's name underlined with asterisks used in conjunction with the Department and Institution

Department and Institution of all Authors / Presenters

The BODY of your abstract should include these headings in bold:

Introduction

Aims and Methods
 - Research Design
 - Sampling
 - Data Collection
 - Data Analysis

Results
 - Reporting the Results
 - Validity and Reliability
 - Variability and Error

Conclusions
